I am a born and raised Lethbridgite…and proud of it!
After high school, I attended Lethbridge College and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (Calgary), and graduated with a diploma in Engineering Technology. That summer, I was offered a drafting job with the City of Lethbridge. (Let’s just say this was way before AutoCAD!)
From Draftsman to Plan Checker to Planning Technician, seven years later I left City Hall to fill the Development Officer position with Lethbridge County, literally right across the street.
The County treated me well for 30 years, even covering tuition for numerous university courses along the way. I studied local government and experienced the fine line between political will and administrative responsibility. I understand the role of Municipal Development Plans, Area Structure Plans and Land Use Bylaws. I learned there’s sensitive balance between agriculture and development and realize how important agriculture and agro-related businesses are to Lethbridge and this region. I retired as Manager of Planning & Development in 2013. Since then, I have consulted on various small scale development projects, both rural & urban.
I am a family man, a son, brother, father and grandfather! I enjoy music, guitars, skiing, tennis, the occasional round of golf and a good magic trick! I am ready for a new and exciting challenge. In 2017, I began my campaign for one of eight seats on City Council, where I finished 10th from a field of 29 candidates. With your vote, I will do much better on October 18th!
